This article demonstrates how to add a custom dataset or tileset to your map style in MapTiler Cloud. This is especially useful in cases when you want to combine the default map styles from MapTiler with your custom datasets or tilesets.
Add a custom dataset or tileset to your map
After uploading your tilesets to MapTiler Cloud, as shown in this article,
you shall see a screen very similar to this:
Go to MapTiler Cloud - Maps and select a map style.
Open the map style and click (...) below the map to edit a copy of the style.
You will see the user interface of the Advanced Editor.
Click "DATA SOURCES" in the top menu bar.
You see the overview of available datasets and tilesets.
The top items are your custom datasets and tilesets.
Click them one by one in order to add them to the list of Active Data Sources.
Once your tilesets and datasets are added, you should see a similar picture.
Now let's add them as new layers to your map.
Click Add Layer in the top left corner of the Advanced Editor's menu.
Name the new layer by filling in the ID field and select
the proper Layer Type and Source, as well as the Source Layer.
The newly added layer will appear as the last item in the layer overview, in the bottom left
section of the Advanced Editor menu. The layer will also appear directly on the map as a new feature.
Do not forget to save your edits before closing the Advanced Editor!
Publish your map, once you close the Advanced Editor.
Are you really sure you want to publish your new map?
Once published, your new map will appear alongside your other maps in MapTiler Cloud.
Conclusion
Congratulations, you have just created a custom map style while using a custom dataset.
