This article will describe the appropriate licensing for using MapTiler maps in GEOlayers 3 for Adobe After Effects. It will also describe, how to insert and replace your API key within GEOlayers.
There are two key aspects to license MapTiler maps for your videos made in GEOlayers:
The digital tiles used during editing & creation in GEOlayers. This is covered by your MapTiler Cloud FLEX or UNLIMITED subscription.
The additional Video Material License Agreement, which is required for all TV or movie productions and YouTube / Vimeo channels with >100,000 subscribers. Please contact us for these use-cases.
After ensuring that you hold an appropriate license, it is easy to enter your MapTiler Cloud API key into GEOlayers. This key is available in your MapTiler Cloud account administration menu.
For your first time entering the API key, you can simply click on the missing maps, marked by a red exclamation mark. Here you can paste your API key and start mapping!
Do not use the default API key you find in your MapTiler Cloud account! Geolayers will not work with this key. You have to create a custom API key to run Geolayers successfully.
Replacing MapTiler API Key in GEOlayers
If you need to change your API key within GEOlayers, it is possible in the preferences menu. Select the preferences menu and scroll all the way down, where you will see a space for entering the new key.
Customizing your maps
MapTiler maps can be customized directly within the GEOlayers tools, using the editing functions included in the software. It is also possible to import custom styles generated into MapTiler Cloud.
Make sure that you hold the appropriate MapTiler license for your productions, and then get started using maps in GEOlayers with just a few clicks.
GEOlayers has extensive how-to videos listed to help you get started.
