This article demonstrates how to avoid unexpected expensive invoices for the usage of online maps for your business and set your limit in the billing information of MapTiler Cloud.
When using a map API, have you ever received a higher invoice than you were expecting at the end of the month? Have you been able to find information about how to solve this problem without having to read many manuals, articles, or even having to make a phone call to receive a response?
I used to work for a very well-known international mapping company, and a recurring question from clients used to be about how to limit the usage of requests. Many of them had no control over the account and on many occasions, they had to pay hundreds of Euros for the use of the APIs.
If you want to avoid this problem in the future, I invite you to use MapTiler Cloud, a solution that in addition to providing thousands of free credits allows you to create usage limits to avoid any type of unwanted expenses.
How to create an account with MapTiler?
Go to MapTiler.com > My Cloud.
Here you can create a free account.
If you want to use the usage limit you need to upgrade to the Flex or Unlimited account.
Once you are subscribed you can create a usage limit by following these steps:
Go to MapTiler.com > My Cloud and access the Settings tab.
Click on the “Set monthly spending limit” button.
Set a limit of spending in the option in “Type in the What is your spending limit” and click on the Enabled button.
Click on the Change button.
Before you reach the limit you will receive an email with a warning. If you reach the limit, the API will be deactivated and will not make any more requests until the following month, that is, the next period.
Creating the spending limit for your online mapping solution has never been easier.
Set an account, set the limit, and enjoy your maps!
