Offline map tiles preview

This article will show you how to preview vector geodata in MBTiles and GeoPackage format using the MapTiler Engine application.

Opening a file for preview in MapTiler Engine

There are several ways to open a file for preview in MapTiler Engine. The easiest of them is to just drag & drop the file into the application window.

Note: If the file extension is associated with MapTiler Engine, you can just double-click the file - it will open the application and directly go to the preview screen.

There is also an option to open the file from the application menu. Just go to MapTiler Engine → File → View a file, choose the map file you want to preview from the file dialog and click Open.

MapTiler Engine will proceed directly to the preview screen, where you can see all the map elements in so-called inspect mode - hovering your mouse pointer will give you information about each map feature under it.

Clicking the left mouse button will open a dialog with a detailed list of all the vector features found under the cursor.
